North of Nowhere

Like in a clumsy ritual, 3 musicians and 4 dancers look for the limits of their bodies and persistence. Let’s go, into the wild. The rules there are more simple. Cruel, but sublime.

North of Nowhere is a dance performance on location. The explosive and acrobatic style of De Dansers meets the unrestrained and enthralling live music of La Corneille. Somewhere outside where everyday life can come to a halt.  A performance about searching, wandering, wrestling and sometimes frustrated people, in a time when self marketing, trendwatching and populism reign supreme.

With North of Nowhere, Josephine van Rheenen builds on from her research in site specific theater ZANDING/BETONDER, produced by Atelier Oerol/Over het IJ Festival 2014.

“Acrobatic poetry of Van Rheenen’s choreography merges seamlessly with the sultrily sung desires of Corneille’s lyrics (about storms, love, pain and loneliness). ★★★★ – de Volkskrant
